The Immaculate Conception is a major feast in the Catholic Church, celebrated on December 8. However, in the Novus Ordo, because the feast fell on a Sunday it was moved to today, while in the Traditional rite it was celebrated yesterday on the 8th.*

Idolatry
“And the Lord spoke all these words: I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Though shalt have no strange gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, nor of those things that are in the waters under the earth. Though shalt not adore them, nor serve them: I am the Lord thy God, mighty, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me: And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments” (Ex. 20:1-6). “I am the Lord your God”
“Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the Living God. And Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed this to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I say to thee: Thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Mt. 16:16-18). Read more
The Sound of Silence
The talk of the angels is always a song, but the language of God is silence. I recall approximately four-and-a-half years ago watching a very beautiful video about priestly discernment called ‘Fisher’s of Men’, and at one point a religious sister says these words: “If you look at nature and the way things grow, they grow in silence. You look at the trees and the flowers, and you look even at human beings, we grow in silence; and a vocation is very similar, and a relationship with God is very similar, and it grows in silence in an environment where one’s inner ears are opened to hear God, who only speaks in silence.” Read more
A Church in Crisis
(The Crowning with Thorns by Caravaggio)
Dear Brother’s and Sisters in Christ,
The Church is in crisis. I do not mean that she is at a breaking point, as though she were about to collapse under the intense weight of sin; but, rather, I mean that She is in crisis because she has reached a critical point in Her life, if we want to use such terms. Read more

Divine Mercy Sunday: Oh What Wondrous Love Is This!
I’d like to first give a shout out to my mother and my father, who are celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary this day. I have been so very blessed to have these two beautiful people as my parents. They have shown me how to love God through reverence and sacrifice and in their love for me and for one another. I have learned so much about patience and mercy from my mother, and I have learned so much about commitment and respect from my father; and from both of them, I have learned love and sacrifice. They have shown me, in their own way, that Sainthood is possible for ordinary folk like us, and I hope and I pray that I and they will enter gloriously into the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
